Curved roofs
echo the rounded forms of the weathered volcanic cones in the surrounding
Central Highlands Region of Victoria.
Roofs are layered on the street front to provide highlight windows to the entrance hall, while on the West a lower roof over the living area is a continuous arc overlooking the entertainment deck and expansive views of the Wombat Forrest and Lake Daylesford. High levels of comfort are achieved in this energy efficient house. Excellent thermal performance results from thermal mass provided by the split level slab, and both ceilings and external walls constructed with multiple layers of insulation. The double glazed windows are protected from Summer sun by slatted shades and a vine covered pergola.
