SEYMOUR HOUSE

The awning to the east, propped up on bush poles sourced from the site.

This rural house was developed in collaboration with the owners, who requested an energy efficient strawbale home overlooking the Brown Range. Walls are constructed with a modified post & beam frame with strawbales stacked within it & finished with an earth/lime render. Windows are double glazed in timber frames.

Sails shading the north glazed wall of the living area.

The grand living area with pitched ceiling formed by scissor trusses, allowing optimal insulation to be laid in the roof space.

A shelving unit recesses neatly into the thick strawbale wall.

The sculptural capability of straw is expressed in this laundry door/window detail.

The bathroom vanity unit melds into the window niche framed by strawbale.

The thickness of the walls is expressed with this protruding fin, creating an opening into the bedroom.

The highly articulate kitchen boasting a range of recycled timber finishes.
