BRIGHT HOUSE

The north-facing aspect of the house.

At the foothills of the Victorian Alps, this house has been designed for year round comfort. Insulation levels are well above standard with R6 in the ceilings and strawbale walls of R4.5 with double glazed timber windows.
A greenhouse in the centre of the North side of the house traps warmth & distributes is to both ends of the house. In Summer the green house can be opened up. Power to the house is provided by photovoltaics and a micro hydro system which meets the demand all year round.

The use of natural timber and round poles compliments the organic nature of strawbale.
